Autostrada continues the repair of the international highway M-21 Vystupovychi - Zhytomyr - Mogilev-Podilskyi - an important international transport corridor that provides transit connections between the north, center and south of Ukraine, as well as access to international routes. The M-21 highway connects the northern border of the country with the checkpoint "Mogilev-Podilskyi - Otach" on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, passing through the territory of Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions.
Special attention was paid to the bypass of the city of Berdychiv, which is part of this highway and currently remains one of the most problematic sections. It plays an important role in diverting transit transport outside the city, reducing the load on city roads and reducing the level of accidents. The bypass was built in 2007, its length is 13.7 km. Major repairs were carried out in 2012. Given that the average service life of the road surface is about eight years, this road currently requires restoration.
We are carrying out work in parallel on several sections: from km 193+304 to km 228+500
It is planned to restore 35 km of the M-21 highway. Currently, the lower layer of the road surface has been arranged on the sections: km 213+904 - km 202+000 (left-hand traffic) and km 228+000 - km 226+000 (left-hand traffic).
Two asphalt pavers and 3 road milling machines are working on the site at the same time, about 65 workers and 80 pieces of equipment are involved.
The quality of the new surface is monitored by a specialized laboratory. Specialists check the thickness of the asphalt layer, the temperature of the asphalt concrete mixture during laying, the evenness of the road surface, and the degree of asphalt compaction.
The repairs are being carried out in stages to avoid a complete closure of the road: first the work is carried out on one lane, then the other. At this time, traffic is organized in one lane.
We thank all traffic participants for their patience and caution in the work zone. Very soon this area will become much more comfortable and safer for everyone who uses it.
