The M-21 highway runs through Zhytomyr and Vinnytsia regions, connecting Ukraine’s northern border with the Mohyliv-Podilskyi–Otaci international border crossing on the Ukrainian-Moldovan border. Under wartime conditions, this route plays a strategic logistical role, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of humanitarian, export and import corridors.

Autostrada is carrying out rehabilitation works on a total of 34 km of the highway, including the Berdychiv bypass. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of July.

Current works on the M-21 include:

  • milling the worn-out asphalt pavement;
  • installing an 11-cm asphalt leveling course, followed by a stone mastic asphalt wearing course;
  • carrying out shoulder and pavement edge rehabilitation works near the village of Osykove.

At the same time, rehabilitation is underway on the Berdychiv bypass, where no major repairs have been performed for more than 13 years. As a result, the pavement had deteriorated significantly, with widespread potholes, deep rutting and erosion damage. The bypass plays a vital role in the region by diverting heavy transit traffic away from Berdychiv and reducing congestion on urban streets.

Current works on the bypass include pavement milling and localized reconstruction of the road base where required.

More than 100 specialists and over 80 units of Autostrada’s road construction equipment have been mobilized for the project in Zhytomyr region.

Thanks to its extensive network of in-house asphalt plants, Autostrada ensures high construction productivity, quality and uninterrupted material supply. All works are carried out under continuous supervision by the company’s quality control engineers and mobile laboratory units.

Traffic may be partially restricted within construction zones. Drivers are advised to follow temporary traffic signs, observe speed limits and exercise increased caution while travelling through the work areas.
