Autostrada bridge builders entered the book of records of ukraine!

Specialists of the National Register of Records of Ukraine set a record on the construction of a large-scale bridge crossing over the river Desna (Chernihiv). In the nomination "The longest length of a continuous monolithic span structure of a bridge made of post-tensioned concrete".

During the day, our bridge builders concreted the 122.493 m monolithic span structure of the bridge. This process continued continuously, the work did not stop even at night. In total, almost 1,400 cubic meters of concrete (which is 3,400 tons!) and 140 tons of reinforcement were used. To deliver concrete to the construction site, concrete mixers made 150 runs!

What preceded this process:

- capital supports of the bridge were built;

- a base made of crushed stone, gravel and reinforced concrete slabs is arranged between the supports to prevent soil subsidence during concreting;

- metal supporting scaffolding has been installed;

- a formwork is formed on the scaffolding;

- the reinforcing frame of the monolithic beam is connected;

- special high-strength steel ropes are installed inside the structure of the span structure, which, after their tension, will accept permanent and temporary loads on the span structure.

Construction of a new 628-meter bridge across the river Desna near Chernihiv began in 2022. This is a large-scale project that has no analogues in Ukraine. During the construction of the bridge complex, almost all types of work are performed, which are only available in bridge construction. The bridge will have 4 traffic lanes, traffic interchanges, an underground pedestrian crossing, sidewalk and pedestrian zones, bicycle lanes, and passageways for people with reduced mobility.

For now, the logistics needs of the region are provided by the old bridge, which Autostrada restored in July 2023. This structure will not be able to function fully for a long time, because it needed major repairs even before the full-scale invasion, and it has capacity restrictions (the bridge can be used by vehicles weighing up to 18 tons). Therefore, it was decided to build a new, modern bridge complex in parallel. We plan to complete its construction in 2024.
