24/7 Major Reconstruction of the Overpass Near Chernihivska Metro Station Continues

Construction works are being carried out around the clock to ensure that traffic can be reopened on the reconstructed overpass by the end of autumn.
Autostrada is currently completing the installation of pile foundations for the intermediate supports of the structure. At Pier No. 3, excavation works and pile head trimming are underway, after which construction of the pile cap — the upper foundation element that distributes structural loads — will begin. At Abutment No. 1, the foundation has already been completed, reinforcement of the pier shaft is finished, and formwork installation is in progress ahead of concrete casting. Reinforcement works are continuing on the foundation of Abutment No. 4.
In parallel, assembly of steel girders for the bridge superstructure is underway at Autostrada’s own steel fabrication plant. This ensures full control over quality and project scheduling. Installation of the girders is scheduled to begin in early August.
At the same time, extensive utility relocation works are being carried out, including the reconstruction of stormwater drainage and gas pipeline networks, which are essential for the further construction of the overpass.
Special attention is being paid to minimizing inconvenience for nearby residents. No high-noise construction activities are performed during nighttime hours.
Once completed, the reconstructed overpass will significantly increase traffic capacity. The structure will be widened from 34.8 m to 44.7 m and extended from 46.8 m to 54 m. The upgraded overpass will accommodate eight traffic lanes, two tram tracks, bicycle lanes and sidewalks on both sides, creating a modern, safe and convenient transport hub for all road users.
