Major Reconstruction of Kharkivske Highway

We continue the large-scale reconstruction of one of the main transport arteries on Kyiv’s Left Bank.
Due to years of intensive use, Kharkivske Highway suffered significant damage not only to the road surface but also to its base. Rutting, cracking, and subsidence indicated a critical loss of load-bearing capacity. For this reason, the rehabilitation is being carried out comprehensively, including removal of the old pavement layers, strengthening of the base, installation of a leveling layer, and paving with a multi-layer asphalt concrete structure designed to withstand substantially higher loads and ensure a longer service life.
The reconstruction covers 5.4 km of roadway, from Darnytska Square to Kharkivska Square, and is being implemented entirely by the company’s own resources. Upon completion, Kharkivske Highway will feature three traffic lanes in each direction, dedicated lanes for public transport, upgraded intersections with traffic signal control, and additional left-turn lanes.
Traffic has already been opened on the rehabilitated section of Kharkivske Highway from Yuriia Lytvynskoho Street to Bratslavska Street (odd-numbered side). Along this section, a new pavement base has been constructed and the lower asphalt layers have been laid over a total length of more than 3.5 km. A new stormwater drainage system has also been installed, including inlet grates and inspection manholes.
Due to freezing temperatures and snowfall, asphalt paving works are currently suspended. At the same time, our specialists continue with related works, including construction of sidewalks and bicycle lanes, installation of cable ducts and communication manholes for lighting networks, and replacement of cover slabs for gas and sewer chambers.
In parallel, capital repairs are underway on three underground pedestrian crossings at public transport stops—near the Institute of High Molecular Compounds Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on Yuriia Lytvynskoho Street, and on Volodymyra Rybaka Street.
Overall, the project provides for a comprehensive upgrade of urban infrastructure: construction of new sidewalks, public transport stops, bicycle lanes and parking areas; installation of energy-efficient LED lighting with a modern control system; and reconstruction of underground crossings with ramps, canopies, and elevators for people with reduced mobility—focused on comfort, safety, and the everyday needs of Kyiv residents.
