Concreting was carried out in stages: work began at the middle section of the span structure and progressed sequentially toward the outer sections to ensure an even distribution of the load on the structure.
On the approaches to the overpass, Autostrada’s bridge builders are finishing the concreting of the transition slabs and moving to the next technological stage—installing waterproofing for the span structure. A continuous waterproofing layer—a crucial element of the bridge deck—will be applied to the reinforced concrete roadway slab. This layer will protect the structure against the penetration of water and corrosive substances, preventing premature concrete deterioration and reinforcement corrosion. Following this, work will begin on the subsequent layers of the bridge deck.
Autostrada’s road crews have already completed the construction of a closed storm drainage system designed to collect and divert surface water from the roadway. Concurrently, asphalt concrete paving is underway on the ramps and approaches to the overpass.
More than 300 Autostrada specialists and approximately 150 pieces of machinery are working on the site around the clock. Every stage of the work is carried out under the constant supervision of technical oversight and laboratory quality control specialists.
In December of this year, we will restore vehicular and tram traffic across the overpass and open the roadway along Brovarskyi Avenue. Upon completion of the major renovation, the overpass will feature eight traffic lanes, two tram tracks, sidewalks, and bicycle lanes. We will design the pedestrian infrastructure to meet modern accessibility standards.
We plan to fully complete the major renovation of the transport interchange near the Chernihivska metro station in 2027.
