Autostrada bridge builders have completed the installation of eight steel beams of the overpass span structure, manufactured at their own metal structures plant. The beams are installed in the design position and are connected by a system of transverse steel diaphragms, which ensure the spatial rigidity of the span structure and the joint operation of its elements under load.
The completion of the installation was marked according to an old Ukrainian tradition - the last beam was decorated with a bouquet. This custom is called a “flower”: since ancient times, after the completion of a key stage of construction, flowers were placed at the highest point of the structure as a symbol of successfully completed work. The “flower” marks the completion of a crucial stage and at the same time is a sign of respect for the skill of the builders who worked on it.
Now the work proceeds directly to the formation of a monolithic reinforced concrete slab of the carriageway. The next stage involves the installation of a reinforcing frame and concreting of the span structure slab. After concreting, we will perform waterproofing, arrange asphalt concrete pavement and proceed to the arrangement of other elements of the overpass.
At the same time, work is actively continuing on Brovarsky Avenue. Autostrada road workers are building a closed storm sewer system to collect and drain surface water from the roadway. Excavation work, laying pipelines and installing elements of the water intake system are being carried out.
We are also forming exits and approaches to the overpass: we are preparing the subgrade and the base for the subsequent arrangement of structural layers of the road surface.
The new structure will have 8 lanes of automobile traffic, two tram tracks, sidewalks and bike paths. We will arrange the pedestrian infrastructure taking into account modern barrier-free requirements.
Already in November of this year, we plan to restore automobile and tram traffic on the overpass and Brovarsky Avenue.
