Autostrada bridge builders have completed the construction of the supports and have moved on to one of the key stages - the installation of eight steel beams of the overpass span structure.
Before the start of work, additional temporary supports were installed, supporting parts were installed and assembly scaffolding was arranged. During installation, steel diaphragms are installed between the main beams, which ensure spatial rigidity of the structure and the joint operation of all elements of the span structure.
We plan to complete the installation of the beams by mid-August. Next, we will begin the installation of cantilever elements, reinforcement and concreting of the monolithic slab of the carriageway, installation of waterproofing and asphalt concrete coating.
The beams were manufactured at Autostrada's own metal structures plant. This is a high-tech production that involves working with thick-sheet steel, the use of special welding technologies and multi-level quality control. The work was carried out under the scientific and technical support of the E.O. Paton Institute of Electric Welding. The beams were enlarged on special slipways directly at the construction site before installation.
After the reconstruction, the overpass will become much more spacious and modern: its width will increase by almost 10 meters - to 44.68 m, and its length - to 54 m. The new structure will have 8 lanes of traffic, two tram tracks, sidewalks, bike paths and will fully comply with the principles of barrier-free access.
Work on the facility continues 24/7. Already in November of this year, we plan to restore car and tram traffic on the overpass and Brovarskyi Avenue. We plan to fully complete the overhaul of the facility in 2027.
