The M-21 highway connects northern regions of Ukraine with Moldova via the Mohyliv-Podilskyi–Otaci border crossing. It is one of the key export routes for the Ukrainian economy, highlighting the strategic importance of this road.

In total, we plan to restore over 34.5 kilometers of road surface on the most critical sections of the M-21 in Zhytomyr region. Currently, Autostrada road crews are working near the village of Osykove in the direction of Zhytomyr. Pothole repairs are also planned on the Berdychiv bypass.

The main works on this road are scheduled to be completed by the end of May.

More than 100 workers and over 60 units of specialized machinery have been deployed, along with Autostrada’s mobile laboratories. The company’s asphalt plants are also being utilized to support the repair works.

Repairs are being carried out using the “patch-by-section” method. Due to significant damage to the road, deeper milling is being performed, removing 16 cm of the deteriorated surface layer.

This is followed by the installation of two asphalt layers: 11 cm of coarse-grained asphalt, which bears the primary load, and 5 cm of polymer-modified SMA (stone mastic asphalt).

Thanks to polymer modification of the top layer, the road will better withstand temperature fluctuations and will be more durable.

We kindly ask road users to remain attentive in work zones, follow warning signs, and comply with traffic regulations.
