Severe Road Conditions: Autostrada Working in Enhanced режим

Over the past few days, Ukraine has been under the influence of an active south-western cyclone. Strong crosswinds, snowstorms, wet snow and freezing rain, icy conditions, snow adhesion, and heavy snowdrifts have significantly complicated road conditions.

The most challenging situation is currently observed in the Rivne and Zhytomyr regions, where more than 20 cm and 35 cm of snow respectively fell over the past 24 hours. While the cyclone is gradually subsiding, Autostrada’s maintenance crews continue to ensure uninterrupted traffic on national highways in enhanced operational mode.

To clear the roads, Autostrada has deployed its specialized fleet of more than 310 units of equipment, including snow removal complexes, loaders, and graders operating on the most difficult sections. At the same time, 380 specialists are working continuously to maintain winter road conditions — clearing snow and applying anti-icing materials to mitigate the effects of severe weather. To date, 19,000 tonnes of anti-icing mixture and 360 tonnes of technical salt have already been used.

Challenging weather conditions require heightened attention and responsible behavior from all road users. We therefore urge drivers to:
— stay home until weather conditions stabilize if travel is not essential;
— give priority to snow removal and maintenance vehicles;
— avoid parking vehicles along the roadway;
— maintain safe distance and adhere to speed limits;
— avoid sudden maneuvers and hard braking;
— check the technical condition of your vehicle in advance;
— exercise particular caution on bridges, ascents, and descents.

Even treated roads during snowstorms demand maximum focus and concentration. Your caution is the key to safety.
