Building protection for the energy sector

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has made Ukraine’s energy sector one of its primary targets. Massive shelling, drone strikes, and missile attacks have created an unprecedented challenge — how to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the power system under constant enemy fire.

For over three years, Autostrada has been implementing large-scale projects to construct protective structures of the first, second, and third levels. The work is carried out in high-risk areas, the locations of which we cannot disclose for security reasons — often under direct fire, where both people and construction equipment become targets.

  • First level – gabions and sand-filled big bags.

  • Second level – monolithic reinforced concrete structures forming a protective contour around critical infrastructure elements. Their purpose is to shield facilities from Shahed drones and cruise missile strikes.

  • Third level – high-grade fortifications designed to withstand even direct hits from powerful missiles.

The company carries out the construction of energy infrastructure defenses entirely with its own resources. Metal structures are manufactured at our in-house facilities, ensuring independence from suppliers and strict quality control. Our concrete plants are also in operation, allowing us to deliver materials without delays and maintain construction pace.

In total, more than 50,000 tons of reinforcement steel, nearly 130,000 m³ of concrete, and over 110,000 tons of screenings have been used in these projects.

The protective structures have repeatedly proven their strength and effectiveness, successfully preventing critical damage to energy facilities.

We continue our work to ensure that Ukraine’s energy infrastructure remains protected and the supply of electricity — stable.
